Janice Gay “Jan” Wadsworth (née Stratford):

Passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026, Christchurch, aged 87 years.

Dearly loved wife of the late Walt.

Loved mother and mother-in-law of Rose and Russell Rudd (North Canterbury), Andrea Wadsworth and Allan O’Loughlin (North Canterbury), Pip Wadsworth (Blenheim), Chrissy Wadsworth-Smith and Darren Smith (Auckland).

Adored grandmother of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a wonderful eldest sister and sister-in-law to Reon Stratford, Sandra Stratford, Aileen and Norm Kopke, Pam and Stu Huddleston and Gary and Marilyn Stratford.

A celebration of Jan’s life will be held at Nativity Anglican Church, 76 Alfred Street, Blenheim, at 1.30pm, on Monday, September 14. The service for Jan will be livestreamed and may be viewed below this notice.

My sincere condolences to Roseanne, Andrea, Chrissie, Philippa, your families and the wider Wadsworth families. Jan, was such a good and lovely friend, nursing colleague, spent many hours on the Cancer Society committee together, the Hospice establishment committee, enjoyed our golfing days. Jan’s artistic gardening skills created beautiful vistas at their lovely homes Walt built.
I am sorry I am unable to attend the celebration of Jan’s life, however I shall watch it on YouTube.
