Passed away peacefully on Tuesday 25 August 2026 at Ashwood Park in Blenheim.

Beloved wife of the late Brad.

Cherished mother and mother-in-law of Lindsay and Mary, Gary and Janette, and Greg.

Adored grandmother of Martyn and Kate, Laura and Regan, Daryl and Linda, Anthony and Sarah, Bryce, and Brett and Madison.

Loved great-grandmother of Braden, Madison, Laughlan, Logan, Carter, Cruden, Elijah and Evaliah.

Loved great-great-grandmother of Amias.

Much loved by all her nieces and nephews.

Loved sister and sister-in-law of Kath and Gary.

A heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Ashwood Park and her many friends who have loved Phyl over the years.

A memorial service for Phyl will be held at Sowman’s Mayfield Chapel, cnr of Hutcheson and Parker Sts, Blenheim, on September 8, at 12.30pm

To the family of the late Mrs Smith I have very fond memories of of your Mother as she was one of the best bus drivers at the time used to love catching the Rapaura school bus from Marlborough boys college and looking in the bus and seeing Mrs Smith sitting in the drivers seat with a big welcome smile on her face. Such a lovely soul. Rest In Unconditional love. Condolences to family and friends.

Isla and I send our condolences to the Smith family at this sad time. Having worked for Brad and Phil for many years both casual and full time. I had a lot to do with Phil and have always admired how she ran a family and fronted up for work everyday with great passion. She will be missed by a lot of people.
