Tribute from Ross Hunter –
Sorry to here Alex has passed. I meet Alex when a group of like minded model train modelers started building a layout on the far side of Woodbourne air base.
I meet up with Alex at a model train show in Nelson and we had a good chat. A real gentleman and I loved his humor and stories.
Tribute from Gus Bishell –
So very sad to learn of the passing of Alex. My sincere condolences to Alex’s family and loved ones. I had the pleasure of working with Alex in the early 1990s when he was was the manager and I was the coach of the Marlborough Rugby Union’s colts (under 21) team. We shared many hours trying to shape and uplift wonderful groups of fine young Marlborough men. We believe that we succeeded in helping them with their rugby careers, as well as seeing them grow and have success. Wonderful times. Alex was the consummate calming influence all his work/dealings with our players, oppositions, parents, the MRFU etc. ………… something that was (at times) needed.
A great planner and organiser, with all things being done calmly and professionally.
Thank you for the memories Alex. RIP.
Gus
