Irene Patricia Payne (née Winfield):

Passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, unexpectedly at Wairau Hospital, aged 86 years.

Loved wife of the late Peter; mother of Peter and Kirk, and their families; grandmother of Scott, Jamie, Georgia, Devon, Mitchell, Max and Hugo; great grandmother of Charlie, Sophie and Frank.

Special thanks to the staff at Ashwood Park retirement village for their care and support.

In accordance with Irene’s wishes a private cremation and service has been held.

I used to.live in Rhodes Street Carterton.
Spent a lot of time over the years at Victoria Street. Even helped mum and dad valet cars. Watched you boys grow up.. and then you watched my son Brendan grow up. Mum would watch his cricket and soccer when she could. Did catch up occasionally when mum was still in the wairarapa. Always told me what was going on with you boys etc. Brendan always loved his time with Uncle Pete and Aunty Rene.
