Tribute from Vicki Oorthuis –
I was sadly unable to bid Maurice a fairwell on his next journey with yous all todsy , he has touched so many people’s hearts in his lifetime including mine when he came into care I was rapted. I think he was too just quietly a friendly familiar face, we chatted caught up again it was a pleasure.
Thank you Ryan, Tash and family for trusting us with his care it was an absolute honor. RIL Maurice.
Tribute from Terry Murphy –
I am so sorry I am not able to be there today. You were a generous man and one of life’s
characters. It is appropriate therefore that we have a little humour.
I will remember you as:
The man who turned my cigarettes in the packet so that I lit the wrong end.
The man who tipped half his beer in the nearest pot plant whilst he sewed us up.
The man who put so much salt on the chips he served, to ensure your thirst increased.
The man who told so many funny stories of his bike escapades around Blenheim.
The man who, as the publican, would not let me have the lamb bone- Unreal he said,
The man who sold us members tickets to the Kumara races.
The man who took us fishing in the Sounds and then let us forget we left all the fish we
caught in his fridge.
Maurice , you provided us with a lot of laughs.
My fondest regards and deepest sympathy to all the family particularly you Lyn and Ryan.
Signed
Murph. And on behalf of the late Harry, Speed and my wife Kerry.
