On 30th September 2026, unexpectedly at home aged 52 years.
Beloved husband of Solange; cherished father of Phillip and Noah. Loved brother and brother-in law of Alexandre and Andrea. Much loved uncle of Tom and Stella.
Your passing has come as a sudden shock to us all. You will be greatly missed and forever held in our hearts knowing that you are at peace.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the first responders for their valiant attempt to save Iran.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to St John Marlborough would be appreciated (a/c Order of St John New Zealand, 12-3244-0055909-02, ref. Lucas de Costa). All communications may be sent to the Lucas de Costa family, PO Box 110, Blenheim 7240.
A funeral to celebrate Iran’s life will be held at Elim Christian Centre, 26 Burleigh Road, on Wednesday 7th October at 11:00am.

My dear friend. Saying goodbye to you was one the hardest thing I had to do in all this years living in New Zealand. The only thing that brings me joy is that you are now in peace with God. NO more suffering, no more tears, no more pain.
Sol, Philip and Noah, I will be always here for you. You are part of my family and we will walk through this with you. May the Lord bring you comfort, strength and peace. Lean on Him and know that you have lots of people praying for you.
Meu amigo, despedir de voce foi umas das coisas mais duras que eu tive que fazer. Descanse na eterna presenca de Jesus. Ja nao ha mais dor nem sofrimento. Uma nova vida comecou.
Minha amiga e irma, meus queridos Philip and Noah. Voces fazem parte da minha familia da Nova Zelandia. Eu vou sempre estar aqui pra voces. Que o Senhor nosso Deus derrame o consolo que voces precisam. A caminhada pela frente vai ser dolorosa, mas voces nunca estarao sozinhos. Amo muito voces.
