Ian Ling

Ian Ling (Retired Master Brick Layer, previously of Christchurch)

Ian passed away peacefully on 28th August 2026 (Daffodil day) at Kaikoura Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family, after a long, uncomplaining, and incredibly strong battle with cancer.

Dearly loved by his wife Barbara, loved and proud of Steven and his fiancée Rebecca, and his caring daughter and mate, Kerrie. Much loved and adored Granddad Ian of Gaia and Mokoia. Ian wished to express his gratitude to Paul and Midge for their cousinly support and enjoyable childhood memories, and to his friends and everyone who reached out with their kindness and care. Your support has been of great comfort to him

On behalf of Ian, his family wish to thank all the medical staff at Kaikoura Hospital, Hato Hone St John, The Kaikoura pharmacy, and Westpac Rescue Helicopter crew for their impeccable care of Ian during this time. A special thanks to the Kaikoura District Nurses for their kind and compassionate care of Ian, and robust support to Barb.

In keeping with Ian’s wishes, a private cremation has been held.
