Eileen Jessie Guard

Eileen Jessie Guard  (née Hammond):

Passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Hospice Marlborough, in her 90^th year.

Loved wife of the late Rex, mother and mother-in-law of Lynne and Chris Roberts, Janet Guard and Konrad Cross, Kathy Guard and Lachlan Dick. Grandmother of Melissa and Lana; Lawrence and Olivia; Ellen and Tamara. Great grandmother of Caden and Lexie; Macie and Jakob; and Mila.

Special thanks to Hospice Marlborough staff for their wonderful care during the short time Eileen was there.

I remember Eileen from when I was in the Nativity Church Choir in the 1960’s. She was lovely lady and sang beautifully.
It was always nice to see her on the times I returned to Blenheim.

Remembering a very special lady. Eileen was my Std 4 teacher in 1956 at Springlands School & it was her 1st year out of Training College. Eileen told me in later years at golf, we were a great group of pupils to teach. A life well lived.

Remembering a lovely lady whom I enjoyed meeting and corresponding with on several occasions and to whom I was doubly related — she was a first cousin of my father (Ian Ferguson) and a 2nd cousin once removed of my mother (Molly Hammond Ferguson).
My sincere condolences to the family.

Tribute from Ellen and Bryan Scrivener – 
Eileen was such a wonderful woman. She taught my son Lyndon when he was year 3/4 at Witherlea school around 1989/90 and he loved her. She was a caring and effective teacher. More recently, we have enjoyed her leading services at nativity and of course singing with the choir. We valued her prayers for the triplets and their dad and Brooklyn commented how he would miss her clear high notes in the hymns.
Our love and prayers to all her family as they grieve a much loved family member. God is always good and Eileen rejoices in his presence, now her earthly toil is done.
