On Thursday 5th March 2026, George passed peacefully at Maxwell Lifecare, in his 99th year.

Dearly loved husband of the late Mary.

Loved father of Stephen, Susan, Paul & Julie.

Much loved Grandad of Cottia, Kyle, Harmony, Anna, Holly and Daniel

You will be greatly missed by all of us.

Thanks to the wonderful care of the Maxwell Lifecare team, your efforts greatly helped during George’s final days.

A service will be held at the Sowman’s Mayfield Chapel on Wednesday 11th March at 10:30am, followed by a private burial.

On behalf of my Siblings Mark, John and Pauline I wish to extend our sincere sympathies. It was sad to hear George has passed away, may you find courage in the memories and stories you share. Loved dancing with George and Mary at Scottish Country dancing ( too many years ago now!) and your mum helped out at our fathers Shoe shop, Picton Footwear. Many a good night was had by our parents in their younger days. Fond memories!
Apologies for not being able to celebrate your dad’s life with you all, but I am away overseas, my thoughts and hugs will be with you all. Regards Marie.
